Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • What types of counseling services does NorthPoint Counseling offer?

NorthPoint Counseling provides a wide range of services including individual therapy, couples counseling, child and adolescent therapy, family counseling, and faith-based Christian counseling. We also offer corporate and workplace consulting to support organizational well-being.

  • Do you offer faith-based or Christian counseling?

Yes. Many of our therapists integrate Christian values and biblical principles into counseling sessions upon request. We also welcome individuals and families who prefer a more traditional, non-faith-based approach.

  • Where is NorthPoint Counseling located?

Our office is conveniently located in Watkinsville, GA, just outside of Athens. We serve clients throughout Oconee County, Athens-Clarke County, and surrounding Northeast Georgia communities.

  • Do you offer online or virtual counseling sessions?

Yes. We provide secure telehealth counseling for individuals, couples, and families who prefer the convenience of online sessions or who are unable to visit in person.

  • How do I schedule an appointment?

You can schedule an appointment by calling our office or by using our online contact form. Our team will help you connect with the therapist best suited to your needs.

  • What ages do you work with?

We work with children, adolescents, and adults. Our therapists specialize in supporting school-aged children and teens with issues such as anxiety, depression, behavioral challenges, and life transitions.

  • What can I expect in my first counseling session?

Your first session is a chance to get to know your therapist, share your goals, and discuss the challenges you’re facing. Together, we’ll create a personalized plan for moving forward in a supportive and confidential environment.

  • Do you accept insurance?

NorthPoint Counseling is out-of-network for most insurance providers, but we can provide documentation (a “superbill”) for you to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. Many clients also choose to use HSA/FSA funds.

  • How is couples counseling different from individual counseling?

In couples counseling, the focus is on improving communication, resolving conflicts, rebuilding trust, and strengthening your relationship. Sessions are designed to help both partners work toward shared goals and healthier connections.

  • Do you provide counseling for children and teens?

Yes. We offer child and adolescent therapy to address concerns such as school stress, peer relationships, self-esteem, grief, anxiety, depression, and family changes. Parents are often included in the process to provide support at home.

  • Do you offer workplace or corporate consulting?

Yes. Our therapists provide corporate and workplace consulting services to improve team dynamics, address conflict, support employee mental health, and promote organizational wellness.

  • Is counseling confidential?

Yes. Confidentiality is a cornerstone of our counseling practice. Information shared in sessions is protected by law, with very limited exceptions that your therapist will explain in detail during your first visit.
